“I am, and always have been an artist, though at times I just didn’t recognize it.”

 Maggie’s paintings focus on the space where sea meets land. They are inspired by the Cornish light reflecting off the wet sand and by the tracks left behind by the outgoing tide. Her expressive coastal landscapes capture a sense of being on the beach at low tide, standing at the water’s edge watching the ocean ebb and flow.

 Painting for Maggie is a meditative process that she can completely lose herself in, building layers, scraping back, creating balance, capturing a perfect moment but also building a sense of history, of time passing with the movement of the tides. Her loose abstracted style allows viewers to imagine themselves in that place and to feel that sense of meditative calm that being by the sea can evoke.
